Families in Vietnam have adequate supplies of rice, but rice doesn't have much protein. Vietnamese children can raise chickens. Chickens provide eggs, meat and the good protein all kids need. One chicken can provide three meals for a family of four! |

In Kyrgyzstan, people in villages have a community farm where they raise sheep and other livestock. Children help their parents by working on the farm. Sheep provide both food and wool. One sheep or lamb will help a farm continue, providing food and employment for many people. |

In Africa, the milk from cows provides vitamins and minerals for children. Cows also provide a natural fertilizer for gardens, where people can grow vegetables. Through this LCMS World Relief Project, when a calf is born it is sold to neighbors so that they can raise it and also have milk and grow food. One cow provides enough milk for a family. |

In Kazakhstan, children and adults drink koumiss (koo miss) or horse milk. Horse milk is even more nutritious than cow's milk. Horses also provide fertilizer, helping people grow other kinds of food. Some people have started a dairy! Many people work there every day so they can provide for their families. One horse will help the dairy to grow or provide milk to a family. |
