Wayne was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and the University of Wyoming with a Masters of Business Administration degree. Following his undergraduate degree, Wayne served for 22 years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1990. During his Air Force career Wayne and his family lived throughout most of the United States and Europe. Wayne is also a graduate of the Air War College and the Naval Post Graduate School in Resource Management.

Wayne came to work for the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in 1990 as supervisor of the accounting department for the Lutheran Church Extension Fund. In 1992, he began his work with the LCMS Foundation as Executive Vice President for Trust and Investments and, at the same time, as Assistant Treasurer of the LCMS. Wayne currently serves the Foundation as Senior Vice President – Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Corporate Secretary.

Wayne and his wife, Helen, have two daughters and five grandchildren. They reside in Belleville, IL and worship at Zion Lutheran Church. Wayne has served his current congregation as Treasurer and Chairman of the Congregation, and currently serves on the Board of Elders. He is an Adult Sunday School teacher and he and Helen are small group leaders. Helen currently serves as Mission Facilitator for Native American Ministries for North American Missions of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and as Secretary / Treasurer for the Council for Lutheran American Indian Ministries.
