Terry Whittle is the Senior Vice President for Communications and Marketing. His management strengths have developed over more than 20 years of planning and directing staff through the creative and production steps necessary to clarify and enhance the messages of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. His ability to present the ministries of the Synod with unique solutions and accurate projections has allowed the growth of many successful partnerships. Terry is a graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana. He graduated in 1968 with a double major in Psychology and Art. After his service in the Army Security Agency, Terry started his church career as a graphic illustrator and designer at Concordia Publishing House where he became the manager of the art department in 1980. In 1986, he accepted the position of Production Manager for the Datapage Division of Western Publishing Company. Terry became Vice President of Publishing and part-owner of Datapage Technologies International in 1981. |

After selling his interests in Datapage, Terry returned to Concordia Publishing House as the Vice President of Publishing. In 1996, he joined The LCMS Foundation to help direct the creative efforts of the fund raising initiatives of the Synod's ministries. Terry has served as a Senior Vice President of the Foundation since 2002 and directs all Foundation marketing and communications, national ministry fund raising mailings, Internet sites and phone communications associated with the development of support for the ministries of the church. During his career, Terry successfully directed the graphic development of many familiar logos of the church, including the LCMS coporate logo and, most recently, the logo for the Ablaze! initiative. For 25 years he has also served in many congregational positions including 10 years as chairman of the Board of Elders and six years as the President of The Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens in St. Louis, Mo.
